Providence, RI -- RHODE ISLAND’S PREMIERE HAUNTED CORN MAZE AND HAYRIDE Two attractions with 1 goal . . . to terrify you at every turn! 1st we'll travel by rickety wagon into the eerily dark and mysterious woods where zombies and bloodthirsty werewolves have been prowling for months. They’ve left a trail of horror behind them, craving human flesh. They wait, hiding in the dark shadows of the corn maze and they’re waiting for you! Evil lurks in the darkness as we desperately try to find our way out of the maze. All we have is light from the moon and our flashlight to guide us. We may enter Quarantine, but we won’t be safe from the evil creatures for long. Next is the Fun House of Fears, twisted terror like we've never seen! There’s nowhere to hide… nowhere to turn! If you weren’t afraid of the dark before, you will be now!

Warwick, RI -- East Bay Bike Path, seems to be everyones favorite. Very scenic and very flat. If you have never been on it, why not give it a try. The distance to Bristol is about thirteen miles. I like to go thru Colt State Park, to add a few extra miles. There are Restrooms, at Colt State Park. We probably will split into a few groups. Feel free to go at your own pace and whatever distance you feel comfortable with. You can always turn around if you start getting tired. I am sorry, but unless the turnout is small, I will not be able to watch everyone. If you were wondering, I plan to ride non stop to Colt State Park. There take in the Views and some snacks, then head back. Depending on how I feel, I may ride to Providence. Directions: Route 95 to Route 195 East, take Exit #4 / the exit forks, stay Right Riverside / follow Veterans Memorial Parkway and you will see a Large Parking Lot on the Right. I am not sure if the street # is 100.

Lincoln, RI -- Hey everyone! I'm scheduling a reoccurring event on Mondays at Rock Spot Climbing's Lincoln, RI location (formerly RI Rock Gym). I set it at 6:30pm, but of course since the gym is open until midnight if you come a little later you'll probably still find someone to climb with. Lately, most of us have been arriving around 7/7:30. Please post the time you expect to arrive so we don't miss each other. Now that I can climb again I will try to make it every week, but please also use the mailing list to get in touch with other members if you need a carpool or want to make sure you'll have a belay partner. If you don't know how to belay yet, please call RSC Lincoln [masked] and let them know you're coming and will need a lesson. It'll take about 45 minutes. If you've never climbed at RSC but already know how to belay, you'll need to take a quick belay test, no need to call ahead for that.

Providence, RI -- Foster Center is at intersection of Howard Hill and South Killingly roads... we'll take Howard Hill a few miles to Briggs right back to HH take a right onto Walker Rd, 2 roads side by each. that's the smaller loop which winds up onto south killingly which can be riden .5 mi back into foster center. or some may choose to take left at end of walker, take so killingly up a few curvy hills to what is a very pretty view atop it. further on, a right on balcom leads to a right on north road, back to foster center road and into foster center again. will figure the mileage. down a few hundred yds from the center is the oldest continuously used town meeting hall in the united states... behind which is a huge field.. great place for a picnic too. i will check the mileage. the smaller loop should be fun for everyone... certainly not longer than the east bay bike path, only in 1 town. when i see the miles, i might add more on it if its too small...

If you are a beach lover, like I am, let's meetup at the Narragansett Town Beach on Saturdays or Sundays this summer. I plan my weekly outing according to the weather, so sometimes it will be a spur of the moment decision. No commitment is necessary, we'll just play it by ear. Bring a picnic lunch, your umbrella, sunscreen and a good summer read. We'll walk along the beach, swim or just sit and enjoy the beauty of it all. Providence, RI -- This is somewhat far from Providence but looks like a great event: Presenter, Russ Cohen, professional environmentalist and wild foods enthusiast, is in his 39th year of teaching courses about wild edibles. His book, Wild Plants I Have Known...and Eaten, came out in June of 2004 and is in its 4th printing. Eastern Massachusetts is home to over 150 species of edible wild plants, many of which are more nutritious and/or flavorful than common cultivated counterparts. Join Russ Cohen for 2 Twilight Wild Edibles Walks at Great Brook Farm State Park in Carlisle. Cohen has documented 66 different species of wild edible species at the park. Different edible species and plant parts are available depending on the season. These 2 walks are spaced out over spring and summer to observe plants at different stages of growth and demonstrate what to harvest when as the seasons change.
